Updates and New Incarnations

I've been costume designing in varying degrees since 2004. Over the last 13 years, I have gone through periods of expansive growth and periods of rest or internalization. No matter where I find myself in this cycle, I am always updating my online portfolio and supporting materials for potential job possibilities. Such is the life of a freelance designer.

Periodically, I find myself rethinking my approach and gestalt. This is where I find myself at the end of 2016. It is during these periods that I look over my resume, curriculum vitae, and online presence. Are they clean, clear and easy to follow? Are these items representative of me at this stage of my life? What do I need to update or change to stay current in the industry?

The above train of thought brought me to look at my old website and see that it was time for a change and a much-needed update. My old website had served me well, but it was dark, heavy, and perhaps not as inviting or as fresh as I wanted. I started looking at a variety of websites and asking friends what software or platforms they use.

Over a four-day period, the jobs of being an academic with a winter holiday, I scrapped my old site and started from the ground up. In this incarnation, I've chosen to go lighter and brighter, and I'm happy to hear that the responses so far are positive.
